September is just around the corner and that means that our official guild meetings are starting up again!
Our September meeting is Wednesday, Sept 19 in Springfield at the Malahide Community Place from 7-9pm. We are going to kick off our Charity Knitting Challenge with a pattern swap for scarves/neckwarmer/cowls. So start looking for a favourite pattern or one that just looks like it would be fun to knit to share with the group.
Meetings are held on the 3rd Wedensday of the month, 7-9pm at the Malahide Community Place in Springfield

Knit In Public Day
We had a great Knit In Public Day today!
Our table was full of hand knit items, a variety of different fibres for people to feel and to guess which one was which, scarves on needles for people to give knitting a try, yarn and instructions to knit a flower, all the supplies needed for making pom poms and a jar filled with tiny leftover balls of yarn for people to guess how many balls there were.

We had a great turn out of Knitters join us at the booth. I couldn't manage to get a picture with everyone all at once but here are some of us!

We had lots of kids stop by to try knitting with needles and to make pom poms.

We had a great day and had lots of interested in the guild meetings.

Knitting Goddesses Night Out
The Knitting Goddesses had a knitting night out with the Yarn Harlot. What a great night!
We went out for dinner before heading to the yarn shop that was hosting the book signing for the evening with the Yarn Harlot.
Most of us had knit the Yarn Harlot's hat pattern An Unoriginal Hat and were wearing it that night.
We knit while we waited to hear her speak.
We knit while she gave her talk
And then we shopped for yarn and her new book which some of us got signed.

August Guild Meeting
Don't you just love seeing your name in lights!
The Knitting Goddess met for our August meeting last night. It was great to have 2 new knitters join us. Welcome Brenda and Wanda!
We spent the night knitting, showing off the hand dyed wool from the weekend's dyeing workshop and looking at everyone's finished and unfinished projects.
We discussed this weekend's road trip to Listowel for the tent sale!! The meeting time is 7am at the Bargin Shop in Aylmer. We will be stopping for breakfast in St. Marys, SHOPPNG, and the stopping for lunch before heading home.
(Yarn dyers in action!)
For the upcoming guild year; September - August we will be making a sampler pillow cover. Each month at our meetings will be learn a new technique. By the end of June we will all have a finished pillow!
More info about the pillow project over the next month (as we get the samples knit) regarding amounts of yarn, colour and accessories (hint-beads!)

Knitting Fun Days
Today some of the Knitting Goddesses had a knitting pool party and said goodbye to one of our members who is moving up to the Barrie area. I can already see a road trip in our future to check out the knitting stores in her new area! We had a great day knitting, visiting and sitting around the pool. Only one person did any real swimming but most of us sat around the pool with our feet in the water. The water was so warm I almost wish I had gone swimming; but you can't knit and swim at the same time. Thanks Liz for a wonderful day!
Last Sunday was our annual knitting day at Port Bruce. I think the HOT weather kept a lot of the knitters at home in the air conditioning but there was a nice breeze under the pavillion and it turned out to be a nice afternoon.

July Meeting
Last Wednesday night was the Knitting Goddesses July guild meeting.
This was one of the finished projects of the night. A feather and fan wrap knit out of hemp. BEAUTIFUL job Chris!!
The summer months at the guild are social knitting nights. We had a great night (in the air conditiong!!) chatting and showing off our current projects.
Carol won the yarn draw of the night and there was some really great yarn in there this month. Congratulations!
In upcoming guild news, we still have some fun activities planned for the summer before we get back into our regular monthly meetings.

Yarn Dyeing Sun, Aug 14 at Louise's
Road trip to Listowel Sat. Aug 20
Is there anyone who would like to be part of a planning committee for the guild? Please let me know if you would like to be part of this group or if you have any ideas for demos or guest speakers for the upcoming meetings. Amanda has offered her expertize and others input would be welcomed as well. The more ideas we can come up with the more informative and exciting our meetings will be! We have some really exciting things already in the works for the upcoming guild year from September - to August but I would love to have some input from the rest of the group as well.
The next meeting will be August 17.
Happy Knitting!

A Future Goddess
Our guild has started a tradition. When one of our members has a new baby we all take turns knitting a few rows on the baby gift.
This was our latest project. Elizabeth Zimmermann's baby sweater on two needles the February baby sweater. It was a fun, quick knit and I would recommend it if you haven't tried it. Here is our future knitter!
